I hope everyone has enjoyed some of my previous “list” blogs and I would like to continue to create more “lists” for your review. Keep in mind that I do not normally write about a car unless it is at least 10 years old but I will occasionally post something about today’s cars if it captures my attention. So, with that said, here is a car that was built for prestige and that car is the 1923 Duesenburg Model A. There were two types of “Deusie’s” but I prefer the Roadster more than the Touring Sedan.
Any automobile that is manufactured by Rolls Royce is prestigious but one of my favorites is the 1925 Silver Ghost Piccadilly Roadster. The long hood and large headlights always capture my attention every time I see this car. These cars sell between $500,000 to $550,000 USD in today’s market and have always been a sound investment grade automobile.
The 1930 Rolls Royce Phantom II Boat-tail Convertible (Touring Sedan) is another Rolls that was built for the sole purpose of giving prestige to its owner. This luxurious automobile was designed to be the only car it’s owner would ever posses and based upon what I have seen out of these cars over the years, I believe that to be true as these cars are re-markedly well built.
Another prestigious automobile is the 1931 Cord L 29 Roadster. Cord’s have been a favorite of mine since I was a child and this Roadster is one of the reasons why. Can you believe that this Cord actually had front wheel drive? Well, it actually did and was one of the many reasons why owning a Cord was considered to be very prestigious. It is good to be Car Savvy.
The iconic 1955 Mercedes – Benz 300SL Gullwing (W198) was the fastest production automobile of it’s time. This car was the first model offered in the SL – Class grand tourer and is arguably the car credited with combining luxury and speed. This prestigious Mercedes – Benz can fetch up to 1.5 million USD if it is in show quality condition.
The Aston Martin DB5 is a British luxury grand tourer that was designed by the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. This prestigious automobile was made famous as the car of choice for British secret agent 007, otherwise known as James Bond. 007 would need the all-aluminium engine producing 282 horsepower which propelled the car to 145 mph in order to catch his enemies on the road. Owning a car like 007 drove would be extremely Car Savvy.
The Bugatti EB 110 was unveiled on September 15, 1991 exactly 110 years after Ettore Bugatti’s birth, thus the name EB 110. This prestigious supercar can get to 62 MPH in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 216 MPH. If you are ever late for work this automobile will get you there very quickly and it will also cost you almost $750,000 USD to have one in the garage.
In 1995 Ferrari decided to go back to it’s high-revving V-12 with the F50. This prestigious Supercar was significantly more exclusive than the F40 and Ferrari built only 349 units of this sexy car over two years. There were only three GT versions of this car and they are worth more than $10,000,000 USD in today’s market. If you want to make a statement, then this is the car in which to make it.
Vanquish is a verb that means to “defeat thoroughly” and if you wish to do that a 2006 Aston Martin Vanquish S is a sure way to obtain that goal. This prestigious automobile produces 520 horsepower with it’s 6.0-liter V-12 on premium gasoline. Owning a powerful automobile such as this is yet another way to stay Car Savvy.
Any model offered by Rolls Royce will enable it’s owner to make a very prestigious statement and while I prefer models from the 1920 through the 1940 era a 2007 Phantom is a very good year for this line of luxury vehicles. This particular “Rolls” offers a V-12 engine producing 453 horsepower and 531 foot-pounds of torque but what was most impressive for me was the smoothness of the transmission. When you drive this large car you simply can not feel it shifting gears and while I have driven other cars with “seamless” transmissions, Rolls Royce has mastered this luxury option.
It is good to belong to the Car Savvy World.
